Outside the Colosseum

Rome, Italy
May 2026

Navigating our way through Rome, we chose to use guides for the major sites. The information was better, the lines were shorter, and we never found ourselves lost.

The Colosseum is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world, yet photographs rarely convey its true scale. Standing before it, I was struck not only by its immense size but also by the thousands of visitors moving through the area each day.

Taking photographs can be challenging in such a crowded setting. Inevitably, someone walks into the frame just as you are about to press the shutter. During a brief break in the flow of tourists, I managed to capture Adrienne standing alone in front of the Colosseum, dwarfed by the massive structure behind her.

Built nearly two thousand years ago, the Colosseum remains one of the most enduring symbols of ancient Rome. Even surrounded by modern crowds, traffic, and souvenir vendors, it is impossible not to appreciate the scale of the achievement and the centuries of history it represents.
